The privacy policy of What’s App is being implemented from May 15 and before that, on May 13, there is a presentation of the government and What’s App in the Delhi High Court. Before that, on the petition filed in the Delhi High Court regarding its privacy policy, it has been said that all internet based apps have the same policy as ours. Bigbasket, Ku, Ola, True Caller, Zomato and Aarogya Setu App also take data of users.
According to Inc42’s report, What’s App has submitted an affidavit in court on May 5 criticizing the user data being taken by other apps. What’s App has also named Google, Microsoft, Zoom and Republic World in its affidavit, which is a digital venture of Republic TV.
According to Inc42’s report, What’s App has told the court that if its new privacy policy is blocked in India, then other companies will also be affected by this decision. What’s App claims that if the verdict comes against it, then grocery apps providing services in India and apps providing online doctor appointments will also be affected.
Regarding the new privacy policy, What’s App has said that it is only for business accounts. What’s App will read only the chatting from the business account and share it with the parent company Facebook. The new policy has nothing to do with private chat. Apart from this, What’s App has also said that it will continue to send notifications to users to accept the policy even after May 15, although it will not delete the account. After a few days, users will not be able to use some features of the app. Meaning that the notification of the message will be received, but the message will not be read.
